Asteroid Technologies makes developer tools for augmented reality. Our product helps creators build interactions for mobile AR, by combining game engine features with support for computer vision and CoreML. We are designing software for next-generation hardware: AI chips, AR/VR displayers, and HD camera sensors. We believe we can make desktop software that is both 10x more powerful and 10x easier to use, by offloading more intellectual work to AI, using a camera to take in continuous input from the user, and using a large AR screen to display more information. We believe desktop software is stuck in the past. The basic structure of the popular tools haven't changed much since the mid-1990s, when computers were only owned by a small proportion of households and businesses. Even today, software usage barely shows up as having boosted productivity, outside of specialized software companies. We make currently an AI-assisted video-editing app for iPhone aimed at independent businesses.
