Advancing CI surgery beyond human capability. We’re standardizing cochlear implant insertion, expanding access to cochlear interventions for both surgeons and patients.
An open platform robotic-assisted system that aims to decrease surgical variability by controlling the speed and acceleration of electrode insertion. This allows both insertion force, and its variation, to be lower than manual insertion techniques regardless of experience level. Literature recognizes stabilized, steady and slow techniques to decrease the risk of additional hearing loss or vestibular symptoms.
iotaMotion is focused on advancing cochlear implant surgery beyond human capability. Founded by surgeons from the University of Iowa, iotaMotion's first commercial product is the iotaSOFT Insertion System, which slows the cochlear implant electrode array insertion down to 0.1 mm/s to reduce max forces and force variation within the cochlea.
